The IWBC, which ran a competition for composers for its inaugural conference in 1993, reinstated its Composer’s Competition with the 2017 IWBC Conference. The Competition recognizes high quality, recently composed works by women, and brings these works to the attention of our members and our followers both by performances at the Conference and by website listings. The Competition was set up to rotate among brass instruments. The 2017 competition was for horn, the 2019 competition was for tuba, and the 2022 competition will be for trombone ensemble. Future competitions will be for trumpet and for euphonium.
