The final deadline to apply to compete is April 1, 2021.
Competition spots are extremely limited and will be awarded on a first-come-first-serve basis so there is no guarantee that you will be able to compete. When registering, you will be able to see if there are any spots available.
Due to the financial implications of Covid-19, IWBC has decided to not increase conference registration costs so they will remain the same as 2019:
One Day: $100
Volunteer: Either half or full comped registration depending on amount of hours
Solo Competition Fee: $50
Accompanist Fee: $50 (includes a rehearsal and both rounds of performance if necessary)
Ensemble Competition Fee: $15 per person
Mock Orchestra Audition Fee: $15
Mock Band Audition Fee: $15
All presenters and performers may elect to use conference pianists at a rate of $50 for the performance and rehearsal. This includes the group recitals (Barbara York Tribute, New Works, and Professors)
Presenters will be assigned a 30 minute time slot to present and/or perform at the conference.
Only those registered to compete at the conference in the Susan Slaughter Solo Competition, Ginger Turner Ensemble Competition, Mock Orchestra, and Mock Military Band Competitions are eligible to participate in masterclasses. During registration, all competitors can enter the lottery to have the chance to play if they would like.
