Melissa Ewing

Melissa Ewing, a native of Northern California, began playing piano at age five and added euphonium to her musical endeavors at nine. Dr. Ewing studied with Matt Tropman at University of the Pacific where she won Pacific’s concerto competition in 2014, the same year that she obtained her Bachelor of Music in Euphonium Performance and Music Management. In 2016, She earned her Master of Music degree in Performance from the University of New Mexico studying under Richard White. Brian Bowman and David Childs then served as advisors to Dr. Ewing at University of North Texas, where she won the concerto competition in 2018 and earned her Doctorate in Euphonium Performance and Music Education in 2020. Dr. Ewing won the grand prize in the Susan Slaughter Solo Competition at the 2019 International Women’s Brass Conference and currently maintains a private studio in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex.
